The 28 Heritage Group members who attended the St. Patrick’s Day luncheon on March 17th were from a variety of cultures… but that day they were all Irish! It was a sea of green… shirts, tops, hats, shoes, earrings, necklaces, pins and badges all proclaiming a love for the Emerald Isle. Thirty of us whooped it up at this year’s Dinner Dance held November 19th in the Patterson GlobalFoods Institute Annex, overlooking the Bijou Park in the Exchange. The setting was splendid and the dance tunes delightfully dated (mainly R&R classics from the 50s onward). As expected, PGI Event Chef extraordinaire, John Royal, served up a marvelous menu that included a vegetable and chick pea curry, poached salmon, and a mustard and herb crusted pork loin. Your Heritage Group was very present at the 2015 Colleges and Institutes Canada Conference held May 24-26, 2015 at the RBC Convention Centre. At least six of us were on hand throughout the conference filling roles as varied as ambassador, speakers’ room assistant, registration officer, and even conference bag stuffer. We never did get a final count of attendees, but pretty well all 800 of the bags we filled Saturday morning were gone by Monday. Continue reading
