Remember the Red River Rebel Riders (now RRCyclists), a team of RRC cyclists that has raised tens of thousands of dollars over the years in the fight against MS? Two alumni and HG members, Wayne Ferguson and Guy Dugas, have now set their sights on cancer, the largest killer of kids in Canada.
Guy Dugas never imagined that a simple Heritage Group blog post about food allergies would save his life. But that’s exactly what happened a few weeks ago when an after-yoga stop at a local bar almost turned deadly.
“I just knew something was off, really off…”
Fortunately, Guy remembered a January HG blog post that warned of skulls in glass pitchers.
Pat Hogue retired from RRC’s Early Childhood Education Program in 2011. Six years later, she has raised over $20,000 from her kitchen for a relatively obscure charity known as Seva Canada. And the irony is, she accomplished it through something she only learned post-retirement: artisan baking! Continue reading

The Heritage Group was pleased to welcome Wendy Schettler, Chief Executive Officer of the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. Her presentation helped illuminate an otherwise dark topic for any retiree, dementia. It’s a spectre whose visit many of us fear as we get older.
But Wendy’s was a positive message of hope, perspective, and humour, often drawn from her own personal experiences with her dad and grandmother. Continue reading
