It is with sadness that we mark the passing of Waris Shere on Thursday, September 25, 2104 at his home. He was 78 years old. Born in Patna, India, Waris was educated at Aligarh Muslim University, the University of London and Technische Hochschule in Aachen, Germany. He taught applied mathematics at Red River Community College and authoured several books on international affairs. He was also a freelance writer in many international newspapers, mainly on the subject of peace. Waris received high praise from his students for being an exceptional teacher. He took great passion in his work. However, he was equally passionate about human rights and justice for all people, regardless of race, color, religion, creed or gender. Waris spent his spare time battling inequality and intolerance and spoke out against violence.

We sadly mark the passing of Roy “Wayne” Park, peacefully on May 21, 2014, at the age of 75 after a lengthy illness. Wayne was a highly-respected Mechanical Engineering Technology instructor who loved teaching and inspired many in his career. Prior to RRC, he worked at Bell Foundry and Park Hannesson Ltd. It is with sadness that we mark the passing of Irene Karasick-McMurrich, on May 14, 2014 at the age of 91. Irene taught Oral and Business Communications at RRCC for several years in the 1970s. During her inspirational life she was a writer, mystic, poet, playwright, teacher and recipient of numerous awards.
