Meeting attendees enjoyed coffee and socializing at 9:30.
Guest Speaker was Harry W. Duckworth, Past President of the Manitoba Historical Society, who gave a fascinating and detailed account of the Selkirk Settlers. Attendees were amazed at how much information they gained, much more than the history books contain.

BUSINESS ARISING
- Financial Report (Elena Grinshteyn)
Endowment Fund stands at $73,853 and the non-Endowed at $2,986. Investment in the Endowment Fund is matched by the Government (Manitoba Scholarship and Bursary Initiative). Scholarships will be given out of the generated interest. Most people are giving more than the usual $10 membership fee. - Report on Wind-up
There was a very good turnout this year for a ride on the Prairie Dog Central to the Hitch’n Post. The food was good and everyone had a wonderful time. - Golf Tournament
This year there was a good turnout. There were four volunteers from the Heritage Group.
OTHER BUSINESS
- RRC 75th Anniversary, October 9
A 20-minute (approx) ceremony will be held in the Voyageur at 2:30 p.m. Day Care Kids will sing, there will be drumming and a blessing from Elders, Stephanie Forsyth will be speaking, and there will be the cutting of the anniversary cake.A137 will be open for mingling prior to the BBQ at 4 p.m. in DEF courtyard where the Free Ride Band will be playing 70’s music.
- Alumni Dinner, Friday, October 18, at Paterson Global Foods Institute. The School of Hospitality and Culinary Arts chefs and students are preparing the dinner.
Tickets are $175.
- Joe MacIntosh will be reading from his new book at McNally Robinson on Thursday, October 3, at 8 p.m.
