Meeting attendees enjoyed coffee and socializing at 9:30.

Guest Speaker was Bryan Chubb, RRC former Patisserie Instructor. Bryan’s talk on living, working, and holidaying in 50+ countries was much enjoyed. His travel experiences are truly amazing. See special information on Bryan’s travel club on page 2.

WELCOME AND CALL TO ORDER

The Chair called the meeting to order at 11:30 p.m. after the speaker and a coffee break.

BUSINESS ARISING

  • Financial Report (Elena Grinshteyn)
    Endowment Fund stands at $75,303 and the non-Endowed at $3177. There has been increased financial support from members as most are donating more than the usual $10 membership. As of the end of September, 3l members donated $723. Cheques may be made out to RRC and sent to the attention of Elena Grinshteyn, Development Coordinator, C306-2055 Notre Dame Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3H 0J9
  • Alumni Dinner (Friday, October 18)
    There is no distinguished alumnus this year. Dinner features food from different countries.
  • Assistant to Newsletter Editor
    Michael Gale needs someone to cover for him when and If he is absent. Ron Blicq said he would work with Mike. Copy is needed for the newsletter. Email your stories, etc., to mrgsoton@gmail.com. CORRECTION to October newsletter: Roger Hamelin retired in 1997, not 1979.
  • Committee for May Windup
    Kenora was suggested as a possible site for the windup. John Bell will check re cruises, etc., on the MS Kenora. Steve Lipischak was thanked for the fine job he did in organizing last year’s outing.
  • Buy a Brick Campaign: Engraved brick walkways are planned for both Campuses. Bricks cost $100 and can feature a personalized message. A tax receipt will be issued for the full amount. For further information, contact Elena Grinshteyn at the address given in the Financial Report.

ADJOURNMENT OF BUSINESS MEETING (Jerry Varnes)


Bryan Chubb, our speaker for October, is a world traveler. He belongs to a group called the Friendship Force. There are a Winnipeg Chapter and a Manitoba Chapter. Groups visit places all over the world and stay with members of Friendship Force at the destination. Anyone interested in joining the Winnipeg Chapter may attend a meeting held every second Wednesday of the month at the Holiday Inn on Pembina Highway at 6 p.m. President is Paul Havixbeck. The Manitoba Friendship Force meets for monthly dinner at the Masonic Temple at 6 p.m. President is Stan Croall. Email http://www.friendshipforcemanitoba.org
