Guest Speaker was Colonel Gary Solar (ret’d), president of the Intrepid Society. Colonel Solar gave an intriguing talk about Intrepid—The Quiet Canadian and Our Greatest Manitoban.

The Chair called the meeting to order at 11:25 p.m. after the speaker and a coffee break.

Financial Report Endowed Fund stands at $77,453 and the non-Endowed at $7000 as of March.
Heritage Group Awards
Five awards of $750 each were distributed to needy students from Media Digital Design (2) Greenspace Management, Construction Management and Access Nursing.
The Group will be touring the Canadian Western Aviation Museum on Thursday, May 22. A lunch will be catered. See the Heritage Group Newsletter for details. Tickets ($25 tour and lunch) must be purchased in advance. Call Elena Grinshteyn at 204-631-3324. Tickets will also be available in the Bookstore. Prior to the meeting, 25 tickets were sold. Deadline for ticket purchase is May 15.
Buy a Brick Campaign (part of RRC’s 75th Anniversary)
Those wishing to Buy a Brick should mail their request to C306. Engraved bricks to be featured at the entrance to A Building or at the Roblin Centre are $100 each. A tax receipt will be issued for the full gift amount. Pamphlets with applications re the Brick Campaign are available at the College. Call Elena (see previous paragraph). To date, approximately 200 bricks have been sold.
Nominations for Vice Chair and Secretary
Glenn Baldwin nominated John Graeb. Don Carlson seconded. Alison Cowell moved that nominations be closed. Ray Newman seconded. MOTION CARRIED. John Graeb will serve as Vice- Chair.
Liz Omeniuk volunteered to fill in as secretary as needed.
Heritage Group Awards Committee
Guy Dugas volunteered to be a member of the Committee. Other members are Mary Hayes, Chair, Pat Fraser, ArnoldKolaski.
Proposed Heritage Group Annual Activities
Dale Watts discussed the proposed Activities Calendar, which would include two external speakers per year, two internal speakers, two social events, and two speakers on Health/Wellness. The Social Committee that will facilitate events was chosen: Gail Shimonek, Glenn Baldwin, Liz Omeniuk, SteveLipischak.
Heritage Group Blog
MOTION: Guy Dugas will set up a blog for the Heritage Group that will be linked to the College’s Home Page (John Reimers, John Graeb). CARRIED
