Theodora (Dorothy) Julia Derksen (née Loewen) passed away on Friday, October 20, 2023, at age 90. Dorothy had a long-time career in education both in the public school system, and for many years as an instructor in RRC’s School of Business and Applied Arts until her retirement in 2004. She was also a very active and dedicated core member of the Heritage Group, a past Chair and reliable baking provider for our meetings over the years.
Funeral service for Dorothy will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. in Winnipeg. Viewing will be at 9:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment to follow at approximately 4:00 p.m. at Westridge Memorial Gardens in Winkler, MB.
A beautiful and kind soul. Will miss talking to this wonderful LADY who has done so much for the college and the heritage club. Always a kind word for all she dealt with in all her years.
So sad to hear of Dorothy’s passing. She was a very strong supporter of the Heritage Group. Rarely missed a meeting. Helped a great deal in updating the constitution. Brought some of her own baking to many of the meetings. I will miss her.
OMG I was gobsmacked when I was at Randy Rummery’s wake today and was told that Dorothy had died. I missed her obit in Saturday’s paper because her proper name is Theodora. I wondered why she wasn’t at the last HG meeting as she was a loyal attender. I will be attending her funeral on Saturday.
