WELCOME AND CALL TO ORDER
The Acting Chair, Leslie, welcomed everyone. Liz Omeniuk couldn’t attend today’s meeting; she is out east as her brother passed away. Leslie asked for any other items to be added to the agenda and minutes. Newer member, Tim Ferrell, introduced himself.
ADOPTION OF AGENDA: Carol Girling and Rose Marie Hess
ADOPTION OF MINUTES : Ray Newman and Don Carlson

Annual Fundraising Appeal (AFA): Michael indicated that five scholarships were awarded this past year. The letter for the annual fundraising appeal has been distributed. There are various ways to donate as indicated on the letter. There will be a phone follow-up in late fall (November) by the AFA Committee and a script will be provided for them. An email will be sent informing the members that they will receive a call on this fundraising appeal.
Social Committee: Karen indicated that an email was sent with the restaurant menus and members were asked to vote for their preference. She received a few responses from this email. We held a vote for restaurant choice and the highest number of votes was Maxime’s. Karen will send an email with the information needed for our luncheon at Maxime’s in November.
A discussion occurred with regards to speakers. Rudy and Gina Fidel’s presentation has been changed to September 19, 2024 and Joe Mackintosh is confirmed for February 15, 2024. A couple of further suggestions for possible presentations: someone from the University of Manitoba on the war in Israel (Leslie); recent publication on infant deaths that a nurse has written (Karen) and MTC (Elaine). Michael is still trying to connect with MTC and with John Einarson. Leslie asked if anyone was able to attend the Fall Showcase and Market at the Exchange District Campus
on Wednesday, October 11. Unfortunately, no one was able to attend.
Member News/Life Updates: Leslie asked if anyone had any member news. Nothing reported.
ADJOURNMENT: 11:35 a.m., Ray Newman.
