Editor’s note (with apologies): The original posting of the article mistakenly listed Clayton Rumley as out February guest speaker. Our speaker was in fact Canadian science writer and educator, Chris Rutkowski.
Those of you who attended the February 16th (2023) HG Meeting will have enjoyed our guest presenter and Canadian science writer and educator, Chris Rutkowski. Chris made mention of the book Holocene, by Clayton Rumley. As a follow-up, we are sharing Clayton’s announcement of a book reading, signing, and meet-and-greet event to celebrate the release of his debut novel, Holocene.
When: Sunday, March 12th from 2pm to 4pm
Where: Cork & Flame Restaurant, 3106 Portage Ave, in Winnipeg.
Holocene is the first in a planned trilogy and a made-in-Manitoba sci-fi adventure, with an action-packed story that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. Rumley’s unique writing style and captivating storytelling will make this book a must-read for fans of the genre.
Initial reviews of the book have been overwhelmingly positive, calling it “…[e]xciting from start to finish…” and “…captivating…”, with Rumley’s writing style compared to renowned Japanese author Haruki Murakami.
The event will be sponsored by Cork & Flame, a local restaurant that is dedicated to supporting local artists and authors. They are graciously providing use of their facilities along with other considerations and are thrilled to support such a talented author. Refreshments will be provided for attendees.
For those attending the event, parking is available in the lot adjacent to the restaurant, with additional street parking available on a first-come, first-served basis.
This event is free and open to the public. Clayton will be available to sign copies of the book, which will be available for purchase on site. All attendees are encouraged to bring a friend and join in the celebration of this exciting new release. If possible, please RSVP so that adequate refreshments can be ordered.
