Hi to all Heritage Group Members,
I hope you and your families have all been able to stay healthy throughout these unprecedented, crazy, COVID-19 times. When we last met in February, I don’t think any of us could even imagine what was ahead of us. Our daily lives have been dramatically affected. It has also affected our ability to meet as a group. Alexis has informed me that physical meetings for September and October have been cancelled by RRC. Also our meeting room A137 won’t be available until January 2021.
In light of this, I will continue as the Chair of the Heritage Group until we can physically meet to have our elections, hopefully in January 2021. I have spoken to Gail Shimonek, Vice-Chair, who will take over as Chair when the time comes. I hope this is agreeable to our members.
I have also spoken to Karen Wall, Chair of the Social Committee. Here is Karen’s update on the Social Committee:
“Hello Heritage Group stalwarts:
As the COVID-19 struggle continues, the HG Social Committee will not be planning any gathering events for the foreseeable future. Unless there is a drastic change for the good in the COVID-19 situation by early fall, this will mean we will not have our Christmas gathering in mid-November. While that is unfortunate, I am sure we all agree that we are a high risk group, and must put our health needs ahead of our social ones. Hopefully next year we will have a much more positive scenario with which to work.”
Karen.
It has been suggested that we could have online meetings. This is something that I am not sure of and I think having speakers this way is not ideal. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know, otherwise we will keep our fingers crossed that we can meet on January 21, 2021.
Stay safe everyone.
Leslie
