
We are saddened to report the passing of Lee Shirtliffe on May 16th 2013. Joining the College in 1970, Lee taught an array of subjects such as industrial hydraulics, fluid power, programmable logic controllers, fluid mechanics, final control elements, process devices and practices and process measurements. He met Lydia at Red River College and they were married July 1981. In May 2000, for his outstanding contribution toward education and training in science, engineering and technology of instrumentation, Lee was selected by the Instrumentation Society of America, to receive the Donald P. Eckman Education Award in recognition for his 30 years of continuous service in teaching instrumentation at Red River College and inspiring and mentoring students for the betterment of the instrumentation field. In July 2008, Lee retired from the College after 38 years as Lead Instructor in the Instrumentation Engineering program. In lieu of flowers, the family hopes to establish a memorial scholarship at Red River College in Lee’s name. (Obituary)
