HERITAGE GROUP MEETING

Meeting attendees enjoyed coffee and socializing at 9:30.

Guest Speaker was Barb Gluk, accompanied by Capt. Mel McDonald, who spoke on the Gimli Glider, an amazing story.

WELCOME AND CALL TO ORDER
Chair called the meeting to order at 11:35 after a short coffee break. Leslie welcomed new members Jeanne Doening and Carrol Lange.

REPORTS

Financial Report (Laura)

The Endowment Fund stands at $125,451.10. The Unrestricted Fund is at $8,730.98

Speakers

The speaker list has been approved for future. Michael Champagne (Meet Me at the Bell Tower) has been removed from the list for next year.

Social Committee (Karen Wall)

• A tour and lunch at the Mennonite Heritage Museum in Steinbach has been booked for Thursday May 16. Members must confirm attendance by May 2. Email Laura (see email address below). Interest for next year’s outing will be discussed in the fall.

NEW BUSINESS

Member News

• Linda Robeson suggested that we could use the talent in the room as speakers. Topics might include Famous people met. An open Mic would be provided.
• Closure, a play by Ron Blicq, will be presented at the Deaf Centre on Pembina on June 12-16, and in Gimli on July 5-7. Tickets $15. Laura will send out a poster to members. The poetry group at Ron’s Shaftesbury residence has produced a book, Our Poems for 2018, available at McNally’s.
