HERITAGE GROUP MEETING

Meeting attendees enjoyed coffee and socializing at 9:30.
Guest Speaker was Tanis Newsham, Psychosocial Program Specialist, with MAID (Medical Assistance in Dying). It was an informative presentation accompanied by a video.
WELCOME AND CALL TO ORDER
Chair called the meeting to order at 11:10 after a short coffee break.

ADOPTION OF MINUTES
Corrections: Addition to April 18 meeting attendance: Howard R. Engel. Ron Blicq’s book produced with his Shaftesbury poetry group should have been titled Our Poems for 2018.

BUSINESS ARISING
Heritage Group Constitution is due for amendment. Copies were distributed for members to peruse prior to discussion at the next meeting. [a copy is also posted in the HG blog]
Financial Report (Laura)
The Endowment Fund stands at $125,451.10. The Unrestricted Fund is actually at $4730.98—4 $1,000.00 awards have been given out since this report was generated on March 31, 2019. Laura will present an updated Financial report at the October meeting.
Social Committee (Karen Wall)
It was agreed that the Christmas luncheon be held at the race track again on November 21; $35 covers the buffet and tips. March 19 outing will be held at the Feast Bistro, Italian Centre. May Final Outing will be a tour and lunch at the Oak Bluff Hutterite Colony, near Morris. A three-hour tour and lunch will cost $25. There will be goods for sale. A portion of the $25 will go to the Emergency Aquatic Response Team at the colony.
NEW BUSINESS
Speakers for 2021: UFO topic approved. Gord Mc Bean will check with Gordon Goldsborough, author of Abandoned Manitoba. Zofia Dove (palliative care) and Dr. Eva Pip (water quality and ecosystems) will be contacted later. The new College President will be asked to speak in October of 2020.

Closure. - Howard Engel passed out cards re the Manitoba Coin Club Inc. for the exhibit on September 28/29.
- Gord McBean needs ID’s for photos.
- Members were reminded to keep up to date with the Newsletter and Blog. Sadly, there were several obituaries available to read at the meeting, collected by Leslie. They included Deb Blower, George Anderson, Kwun Chu, Jack Kaplan, Mark Bishop, Charles Keep, Ruth Keep.
