ADOPTION OF AGENDA (Ray Newman, Dale Watts)

ADOPTION OF MINUTES (John Graeb, Liz Omeniuk)

BUSINESS ARISING

Heritage Group Brochure (Leslie) There will be a brochure developed to market the Heritage Group since it has been difficult to make presentations at retirement meetings. Gord McBean, Ron Blicq, Leslie Walsh, and Karen Wall will form a committee.

Financial Report (Elena) The Endowed Fund stands at $105,948. The non-Endowed Fund is at $5718. There will be a document forthcoming to explain the new College policies; the College wants to help more students. Every dollar awarded to students will be matched by 50 cents. If we award $6000, we will receive $3000, which goes to the Endowment Fund.

All annual donation cheques should be made payable to Red River College, not to the Heritage Group.

Social Committee (Karen) The response to the Fort Whyte outing was positive. Tickets were sold for $25 rather than the actual cost of $23. The extra $67.45 will go to the Endowment Fund.

November 16 is set for the Christmas Lunch in the Prairie Lights. Details will be available at the October meeting.

Members were not in favour of the potential Blue Bomber outing as described in the August Newsletter (group ticket package).

Members voted for a St.Patrick`s lunch in March rather than a possible Jets outing at the Ice Plex.

May Wind-Up. Members voted for a one to two-hour tour of the St. Boniface Cathedral and Museum ($7.25) followed by a restaurant lunch.

NEW BUSINESS

Speakers for 2018 were discussed. An update on the College by the President or Vice President will be kept as a filler although they are not always available.

Speakers on a theme were considered. It was suggested we ask another speaker on the Immigration Theme. Tom Denton suggested a writer from the Free Press. Ideas and suggestions for speakers should be emailed to Elena.
